How we review supplements
Every DoseAudit review follows the same four steps and the same four scores. This page explains both, so you can check our work and repeat it on any product.
Do you test the products on yourselves?
No. DoseAudit reviews the offer: the label, the sales page, the order form and the refund terms. We do not take the products and we never describe personal results we did not have. A review written from one person's experience cannot tell you whether a dose matches the research, and it is easy to fake. What we check can be verified by anyone who opens the same pages.
What are the four steps?
1. Read the label
We copy every ingredient and the amount per daily serving from the Supplement Facts panel or the sales page. When amounts are hidden inside a proprietary blend, we say so. For probiotics we note whether the strain code is given, because effects belong to specific strains.
2. Compare with research
Each ingredient is checked against the amounts used in human trials, using the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements and studies indexed on PubMed. When the sales page cites a study, we open it and check that it tested the same ingredient, strain and dose.
3. Check the order form
We follow our own link to the real checkout and record the bundle prices, shipping, auto-ship boxes and any extra offers that appear after payment. The checkout is the source of truth for price, not the sales page.
4. Score and publish
Each product gets four scores from 0 to 10. The overall score is their average, and it decides the verdict. Reviews go up as they are, good or bad, with the date of our check and the sources we used.
What do the four scores measure?
- Evidence. For supplements, whether doses reach the studied range and whether the claims match the studies. For audio programs and fitness plans, whether the claims are plausible and supported.
- Price. The real cost per month or per purchase, including shipping and the bundle you have to buy to get the advertised price.
- Refund. The length of the refund window, who handles it and what conditions apply.
- Transparency. Whether the seller, the author and the formula are identifiable, and whether the page uses fake scarcity, unnamed experts or dramatized testimonials.
How are verdicts assigned?
An average of 7.0 or more is Holds up. From 4.5 to 6.9 is Worth a look. Below 4.5 is Doesn't add up. A commission never changes a score. Products that fail are published with their verdict, because a site where everything passes is useless to you.
Do reviews get updated?
Yes. Prices, bundles and refund terms change. Each review shows the date of our last check, and we update the review when we find a change.
